TeenSpace  will change your life!

A day long retreat in beautiful Sedona, Arizona for teens - parents are invited too.

The TeenSpace self discovery retreat is the perfect opportunity for teens and their parents to explore how to live their lives with self-awareness, self-care, wisdom and presence.  This day long retreat will show teens the tools it takes to learn how to relax, make better choices, speak their truth, and be comfortable just ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’.

TeenSpace retreats are a ‘don’t miss’ for any teen interested in experiencing meditation and mindfulness practices, an inspired yoga class, heartfelt communication, wonderful mentors, a safe community, and a time to reflect on the mysteries and truths of our lives.

“This retreat is a time for teens and their parents to share a day where they’ll discover their own thoughts, their desires and their dreams. They’ll learn to listen to themselves and discover techniques for relaxation, and be introduced to yoga and meditation too,” explains Debra Beck, a presenter and author of the book for teens, My Feet Aren’t Ugly, A girl's guide to loving herself from the inside out.

Maura Mark, a certified yoga teacher and yoga therapist, assures teens and parents that “with yoga, they can improve their posture, become more flexible, get really relaxed, and do all this as they listen to great music.”

This retreat is for any teen and parent that is ready to look deep inside themselves and open up to new ways of being present with each other. It doesn’t matter what your race, religion, sexual orientation, past experiences, or future plans are: if you are open to self discovery and learning new things, TeenSpace is for you.

“All of us that work with the teens are completely passionate about helping young people learn to take care of themselves and make better choices for their lives, ” says one of the retreat facilitators and meditation instructor, Sarah McLean.

The days events will include three separate workshops facilitated by each of the three presenters above. Teens and parents will have their own workshops apart from each other. Food will be provided during our lunch break and we will all gather together at the end of the day for a closing segment which will leave you refreshed and inspired!

Presenters Bio's & Workshop Descriptions:

Debra Beck, Author of My Feet Aren’t Ugly, A Girl’s Guide to Loving herself from the inside out, is a devoted mentor for teenage girls and parents on issues facing teenage girls today.

With 20 plus years experience in self-development, and first-hand awareness of how difficult the teenage years can be, empathy, and a passion for making a difference, Debra discovered her life’s work: helping young girls learn to truly love themselves from the inside out.

As a teenage girl, Debra struggled with the issues that normal teenage girls face-anxiety about school, friends, peer pressure, family life, not liking – or even knowing – who she was, and not fitting in.  Debra’s experience as a teenager, she says, was fraught with anxiety, uneasiness and feelings of confusion, frustration and self-doubt.  What Debra didn’t realize was that these difficult years were preparing her for her life’s work.

When her two daughters became teenagers, she came to understand that her experience as a teen wasn’t the exception, but the norm. Through observing her daughters, Debra saw that these girls, and so many of their friends, were confronting the very issues she had faced.  It was then that Debra became cognizant not only of how painful it is to be a teenage girl, but realized that low self-esteem was a universal problem for most girls in their teens.

Workshop: Debra will hold a workshop to empower teens, helping them tap into their inner self, learning that they don't have to go out side of themselves for answers they hold within.  Teaching teens how to make good decisions for themselves through simple, effective tools. She will have a segment for parents helping them to see through their teens eyes and give them tools to help with their teens self-esteem.

Maura Mark, Certified yoga teacher and therapist for over 22 years, teaches classes that are an eclectic fusion of various healing and spiritual modalities, making them intuitive, insightful and educational. Workshop: With all the demands that youth today experience throughout their busy lives the movement and meditation inherently experienced through the practice of yoga can provide teens with great skills to relieve and manage stress. In this class teens will not only strengthen the body, but will also learn through yoga how to more deeply connect to the mind and spirit. Yoga for Teens is a great way to clear the mind from all the clutter and create peace and balance, as well as, provide a non-competetive environment allowing for growth and success. Teens will practice asanas, meditation and pranayama, always working to maintain physical, mental and spiritual well being. Experience a yoga practice that tends to the body with acceptance, nurturance, and gratitude, and focuses the mind on the inner experiences of peace, joy and connection. This practice will blend movement both vigorous and gentle, hip music for teens, enlightening music for the adults, conscious breathing, meditation and deep relaxation. The music is new, but the practices are ancient. This is a yoga class with a serious passion for life, nature, and love designed to get you out of your “stuff,” and back into the groove. Leave behind the attitude that “something is wrong” and experience the inner peace that comes with feeling that everything is “already perfect” in the present moment.
